At the end of the 19th century, a young Armenian boy was forced by the horrors of the times to leave his family in Malatya, Turkey and immigrate to the United States.  Hagop Dohanian knew no one here and had nowhere in particular to go.  He came to the Boston area because there were other Armenians here who would give him a job and help him with his goals.  He worked in the Oriental rug business for a few years and when he thought he was ready, started his own company that would eventually become Bon Ton Rug Cleansers.

After serving in World War II, Hagop's son Armen graduated from Boston University and came to work for his father.  Working together, they made the company grow and prosper.  When Hagop was forced to retire by health concerns, Armen asked his sister Nevart to join him in the family business.  They continued to work together until Armen's son, Armen Jr. (Buzz), joined the company as well in the early 70's.  With three family members actively involved in the business, it continued to grow both in the cleaning and repairing of rugs.  As we entered the new century, and Bon Ton entered it's second century, Buzz's son Adam became the fourth generation of Dohanians working at Bon Ton Rug.

Today, we still strive to maintain the high standard that has been a family tradition since our company's founding.  We are pleased that many our customers have chosen to maintain a long-term relationship with Bon Ton, in some cases spanning generations.  If you have just discovered us, we hope that you will be pleased with the level of service you receive, and that you will continue to use us for your rug care and maintenence needs well into the future.
