The History Of Bon Ton Rug Cleansers
Hagop Dohanian, the founder of Bon Ton Rug Cleansers, immigrated from Turkey as a teenager. He settled in the Boston area among a strong Armenian community who introduced him to the rug cleaning and repair trade. After a few years of working for others and learning as much as possible, Hagop decided to start his own company in 1901.
Hagop initially ran the entire rug business out of his garage. As the business grew and the rugs began spilling out of the space, he decided to open his brick-and-mortar store in Watertown, MA – the very same location we are in today!
Since its inception, Bon Ton Rug has faced challenges of different magnitudes. We have stood strong through hurricane damage, fire damage, the Great Depression, and World War II, all of which have helped us evolve through four generations.
Each family member who has joined the business has done so out of passion for the industry and a commitment to our community. We’re always looking for innovative ways to improve our services, and we hope it’s apparent in every interaction that we genuinely love what we do.
Bon Ton Rug has maintained a high standard of craftsmanship and has been able to continually provide the best quality service. Under the current leadership of Armen Jr, Adam, and Matthew we can ensure this will be the case for years to come.
